Oslo
Must-see attractions whilst in Oslo are The Royal Palace, National Gallery, Fram Museum, The Viking Ship Museum, Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Natural History Museum and the Botantical Gardens. Alternatively, why not visit the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and take in the breath-taking view of the city from the jump tower. Braver types may like to take the quick route back down - the zipline!

Another highly recommended way to spend a summers day, is visiting the islands of Oslo Fjord with their many beaches, hiking trails and forests. Each island has its own unique character and history, so grab a picnic and jump on board the ferry and enjoy a day's island hopping.

Ovrevoll Racecourse & the Norwegian Derby
The Norwegian Derby is held yearly at Ovrevoll Racecourse which is conveniently located just 20 minutes outside of Oslo. The turf track at Ovrevoll is approximately one mile two furlongs long and the course also features an all-weather track. The largest event at Ovrevoll each year is Derby day featuring the Listed Scandic Norwegian Derby. In 2016 Irish horses featured heavily with Our Last Summer trained by Niels Petersen and ridden home comfortably by Elione Chaves coming in first with Pas De Secrets following behind with George Baker at the reins. The Group 3 race, the Marit Sveaas Memorial is also run on Derby day and offers the winning owner a prize of 800,000 Norwegian Kroner (approx. £80,000).

Also running on Derby day is the Polar Cup - a Group 3 race traditionally run at the beginning at August. Last year this race attracted some British runners and the same is hoped for this year's running.
