Horse Racing Abroad is delighted to offer a unique tour to Newmarket, in conjunction with Discover Newmarket. The tour will combine a stay at the exclusive Jockey Club Rooms, a visit to Palace House and a visit to a trainer’s yard and a stud farm. The tour will be guided by ex-trainer Gavin Pritchard Gordon who will give visitors a rare insight into the workings of the British racing industry.

Itinerary

Monday 24th July
Please make your own way to the Jockey Club Rooms for check in by 12.00. Depart the Jockey Club Rooms for the short walk to Palace House where you will be served a light lunch. Following lunch you will explore the three complimentary attractions at Palace House. Stroll back to the Jockey Club Rooms upon conclusion of your visit.
This evening you are invited to a drinks reception prior to dinner, with wine, in the Card Room hosted by Gavin Pritchard Gordon.

Tuesday 25th July
Please make your own way to the Jockey Club Rooms for check in by 12.00. After breakfast (approx. 08:30) you shall depart the Jockey Club Rooms by coach with your Discover Newmarket guide for a tour of the world famous Newmarket Heath training grounds. Next stop is a behind the scenes tour of a trainer’s yard followed by a visit to a well-known stud farm. Following the stud visit you will return to the Jockey Club Rooms to make your own onward arrangements.

This tour is also running again on Monday 18th – Tuesday 19th September.

The Jockey Club Rooms The 18 country house style bedrooms are individually decorated and most overlook the manicured gardens. The Jockey Club Rooms feature an eclectic and truly unique collection of sporting art and racing memorabilia worth over £20 million. Included in the collection are paintings of some of the turf’s greatest racehorses as well as portraits of the larger than life characters’ integral to the history of racing and the Jockey Club.

Palace House - The National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art is situated in Charles II’s sporting palace and stables and spans five acres in the heart of Newmarket. It comprises of three complementary attractions; a new National Horseracing Museum, a National Art Gallery of British Sporting Art, and a chance to meet former racehorses and learn what they do after racing, in the flagship home of Retraining of Racehorses (RoR). RoR demonstrations take place daily in the arena at 11.00 and 14.30.

Discover Newmarket offers a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at racing’s headquarters to see the equine stars at work and learn about the fascinating history, heritage and culture of the town. Our expert guides deliver tours for groups and individuals which can be organised for a half-day, full-day or longer. Tours include visits to a racehorse trainers yard, the famous gallops, the National Stud, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art, the exclusive private members club at The Jockey Club Rooms, Newmarket Racecourses, the Animal Health Trust, Sheikh Mohammed’s breeding operation Godolphin, and much more. Our tour in run in conjunction with Discover Newmarket.

Single supplement: £40 per room per night

Only a limited amount of single rooms are available at this supplement. When these have been sold the single supplement will increase to £125.00.
